The In-House Lawyer as Project Manager - What You Need to Know to Support Your Teams
Introduction
This virtual classroom seminar explores the evolving role of the in-house lawyer as a project manager.
In-house lawyers need to build trust and integrate themselves within their organisations in order to become voices of reason and authority. It is not automatic that an in-house lawyer will hold a Board position, so aligning the role to meet the organisation’s needs involves being knowledgeable, responsive, business-oriented and user-friendly.
This session focuses on the in-house lawyer as a project manager, exploring how to map out and manage deliverables effectively. Key elements include setting a framework and managing time, cost and quality. The course also covers stakeholders and governance, communications, and change control. It concludes with project closure and gathering lessons for the future.
We will also examine value creation as an in-house lawyer and consider the role of emerging AI.
The session will end with a summary and key takeaways.
This course is designed for individuals employed as in-house lawyers, or those contracting or seconded into organisations. While it includes elements of technical project management, it is not a full project management course.
