Consumer Rights & Remedies - Live with Keith Markham
Introduction
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 sets out the key rights and remedies available to consumers in respect of the supply of goods, services and digital content to them by a trader. However, despite these provisions being well-established, there is often confusion amongst traders as to what this requires them to do in practice.
Since 6 April 2025, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (‘the DMCC Act’) provides a series of enhanced enforcement powers both for the courts and the Competition and Markets Authority (‘the CMA’). Traders found to be in breach of their consumer law obligations may be fined up to 10% of annual turnover or £300,000, whichever is higher.
Consequently, it is time for traders to refresh their knowledge of their key obligations to ensure that they are not the subject of enforcement action. This virtual classroom seminar summarises the key rights and remedies that all traders and consumers need to be aware of.
