Introduction

The vast majority of private tenancies and many social residential tenancies in England are assured tenancies governed by the Housing Act 1988. A good working knowledge of this legislation is therefore essential for anyone finding themselves dealing with residential property. The Renters’ Rights Act will transform the legal framework for assured tenancies in England, abolishing “no fault” section 21 notices and bringing in many other reforms.

This virtual classroom seminar is aimed at lawyers and property professionals with some understanding of landlord and tenant law who find themselves dealing with tenanted property and need to advise private sector landlords, tenants, purchasers, mortgagees, surveyors, and lettings and managing agents in this area.

It will examine how the Renters’ Rights Act has transformed the assured tenancy regime and identify key legal issues relating to the management of residential tenancies governed by the Housing Act 1988.
