Introduction

Skeleton arguments are now a fundamental feature of almost any hearing in commercial litigation, from small applications to lengthy trials. They often form a judge’s starting point into a dispute and, if effectively crafted, can provide a party with a significant advantage.

While all practitioners have their own style and approach, there are certain fundamental characteristics which distinguish persuasive and effective legal writing. There are also various procedural requirements which govern the use of written advocacy before various tribunals (both first instance and appellate).

This virtual classroom seminar will provide an overview of how and when to use written advocacy to your client’s best advantage, with particular emphasis on the commercial litigation context.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • How to write skeleton arguments which act as an effective and winning tool for any context
  • How and when to best deploy written advocacy in a variety of types of hearings and Courts to educate, communicate and persuade
  • How to put your client’s case in the best light possible
  • How to advance a compelling analysis as to why it should be preferred by the Court

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
