Introduction

Have you ever wished you had more time to look up a point and only later discovered there was some useful guidance in PERG which answered your question?

Don't be caught out next time!

This webinar will take you through some of the key guidance and relevant case law.

You will be given examples of what comes inside, or outside, the scope of regulation.

The webinar is suitable for financial services professionals with a working knowledge of general concepts and the Regulated Activities Order and Financial Promotions Order but who now wish to increase their understanding of the regulatory perimeter by looking carefully at PERG.

It is also suitable for advisors, such as lawyers and accountants, who have financial services providers as clients.

The webinar will focus on general areas of common interest (it will not dwell on specialist sub-categories such as claims management, consumer credit, funeral plans etc).

What You Will Learn

This webinar will cover the following:

  • Authorisation and Regulated Activities:
    • 'The business element' (and how that changes, depending on the activity)
    • The link between activities and the UK
    • Which investments come within scope of regulation?
    • Regulated activities and exclusions
    • Common questions such as advising v giving information v personal recommendation
    • Exempt persons
  • Financial Promotion:
    • Invitation or inducement - where is the line drawn?
    • Some of the exemptions, including overseas recipients
    • Other exemptions, such as sale of a body corporate

This pre-recorded webinar will be streamed at 12:30pm on Monday 1st July 2024 and will remain available to view by delegates who have registered by then for 90 days.
