Introduction

This webinar details the UK government’s recent introduction of the new holiday options for irregularly paid workers and part-year workers.

It will start with an introduction to holiday entitlement, and the different types of holidays available to workers in the UK, review the holiday pay calculation options, and look at the future compliance task force - the Fair Work Agency.

A new state enforcement agency will cover statutory holiday pay - the right to payment for holiday, including any arrangements for rolled-up holiday pay for irregular hours and part-year workers.

There will be a new obligation to keep records demonstrating compliance with statutory holiday entitlement (including the amount of leave and pay) for six years, with failure to comply being a criminal offence punishable by a fine.

What You Will Learn

This webinar will cover the following:

  • Explain the scope and purpose of the Working Time Regulations 1998 (WTR 1998) - including key case law developments that have shaped holiday entitlement rights in the UK
  • Identify the key legislative changes introduced on 1 January 2024 - and understand how they affect holiday pay calculations and entitlement for different categories of workers
  • Understand the new holiday entitlement options for irregular hours and part-year workers - effective for holiday years starting on or after April 2024
  • Apply the updated rules on rolled-up holiday pay - and assess how these changes apply in practice to atypical working patterns
  • Recognise the functions and powers of the newly introduced Fair Work Agency - particularly its role in enforcing statutory holiday pay and addressing non-compliance
  • Comply with the new statutory record-keeping obligations - including the six-year requirement and the associated penalties for breaches
  • Evaluate your organisation’s or clients' compliance readiness - and identify the steps required to implement these changes effectively

This pre-recorded webinar will be available to view from Monday 15th September 2025
