Beyond Carbon - Internalising Nature, People & Strategic ESG Risks & Opportunities
Introduction
While carbon mitigation remains the most established pillar of corporate sustainability, the strategic mandate for CxOs is rapidly expanding. We are entering a new phase where climate adaptation, nature-related risks (such as biodiversity loss and water stress), and human capital management are becoming financially material and non-negotiable both for reporting and for long-term value creation.
This shift is driven not only by a looming wave of mandatory due diligence and disclosure regulations but also by the critical demands of investors, insurers, and customers. Investment funds now require sophisticated non-carbon data for capital allocation, and insurers are repricing physical and transitional risks associated with nature-dependent supply chains.
The transition is being enabled by the increasing capability to assess, measure, and disclose these complex risks (e.g., through TNFD and improved social KPIs), even as challenges remain. Crucially, this evolution forces companies to confront the economic principle of internalisation of externalities, quantifying the true cost of nature dependency and impact to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
This webinar provides a strategic primer on these emerging focus areas, outlining the financial risks and opportunities associated with nature and people. We will examine how to integrate these holistic ESG considerations into enterprise risk management and prepare for the next wave of reporting and assurance requirements.
The webinar is suitable for C-level executives, specifically Chief Financial Officers (‘CFOs’), Chief Operating Officers (‘COOs’), Chief Risk Officers (‘CROs’), Heads of Strategy, General Counsel/Legal Teams, and any role responsible for non-financial reporting, integrated risk management, and long-term value strategy.
