Introduction

The Sexual Offences Act is 20 years old in 2023.

Having largely replaced the Sexual Offences Act 1956, the law was updated substantially to bring the law on sexual offences into the 21st century. Despite this, the issue of sexual offences is never far from the headlines.

20 years on and new criminal offences are still being added to the statute books; 20 years on and the issue of disclosure is still bedevilling criminal trials. And 20 years on, we still face the challenges of abuse of process, evidence, registration requirements and sentencing.

This virtual classroom seminar is intended for criminal lawyers at all levels - be it police stations, Magistrates Courts, Crown Courts or RASSO unit lawyers.

What You Will Learn
