Introduction

Are you prepared for the shifting landscape of care and support provision?

Care and support needs change over time, and local authorities are required to keep under review whether the provision is meeting eligible care and support needs. It is also the case, in the current financial climate, that there is pressure on public bodies to consider whether care packages can be reduced or even withdrawn.

With real-world examples, interactive exercises and case studies, this new virtual classroom seminar will explore the statutory framework governing reassessment and revision of care plans. The legal and procedural thresholds for reducing or withdrawing support and the mechanisms available to challenge such decisions will also be covered.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • The statutory scheme for review and re-assessment of need and revision of care and support plans
  • The procedural steps required for a local authority to reduce or withdraw care provision
  • How such decisions can be challenged - looking at judicial review claims and complaints/ Ombudsman referrals
  • How such decisions operate where a person does not have capacity to make decisions about care and support, and the interplay of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
