The Digital Markets Competition & Consumer Act 2024 - Enforcement Risks for In-House Counsel
Speaker
Introduction
The DMCC consumer protection provisions came into force on 6 April 2025 and the CMA has shown itself keen to use its new powers, demonstrating that it is taking its new role as consumer rights enforcer very seriously. Any business that advertises and sells to consumers must take note of what is permitted under the Act, and where the CMA is focusing in particular, or risk significant sanctions being applied as well as reputational damage from an investigation.
