Introduction

This new virtual classroom seminar will look at some of the expanding list of decisions relating to the recoverability of inquest costs in subsequent civil proceedings, including Briley & Ors v Leicester Partnership NHS Trust & Ors.

It will also reflect on the Gibson test for recoverability of costs incidental to proceedings and the competing authorities seeking to establish precisely what is recoverable such as Roach, Fullick and Lynch.

The session is suitable for lawyers dealing with inquests and civil proceedings in England and Wales.

It is assumed that attendees will have a good grasp of the Civil Procedure Rules.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • The test for recoverability of inquest costs in subsequent civil proceedings
  • The application of this test by costs judges
  • The categories of inquest costs which are likely to be recoverable in civil proceedings
