Introduction

Clients often wish to ensure that after they die, their pets are cared for.

This new virtual classroom seminar offers guidance on the options available and covers some of the practical issues that a client should consider before deciding how to provide for the care of an animal in their will.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • Identifying the animal in the will
  • Deciding who is to look after the animal
  • Resources needed to maintain the animal
  • Providing for the particular upkeep of the animal
  • Restrictions on amending the financial provision included in the will
  • When nobody is able or willing to care for the animal
  • Types of gift in the will for the care of a pet, for example an absolute gift to a named beneficiary/the executors (which may or may not include a gift of money), a discretionary trust of the residuary estate or a gift to an animal welfare charity

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
