Introduction

For some individuals, the end of a relationship can mark the beginning of a prolonged period of controlling, coercive or otherwise abusive behaviour, with litigation becoming another arena in which that behaviour is played out.

This virtual classroom seminar explores practical tips on how to properly manage cases involving post-separation abuse and litigation misconduct. It will explore how abusive dynamics may manifest within family proceedings, the warning signs practitioners should look out for and the tools available to lawyers and the court to manage difficult litigation effectively.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • How to identify post-separation abuse
  • What counts as litigation misconduct
  • Consider litigation behaviours that may be abusive, including repeated applications, excessive correspondence, procedural obstruction, non-compliance, financial pressure and the use of children or other issues as a means of maintaining control
  • Consider the procedural tools available to manage litigation effectively
  • Identify practical steps solicitors can take to identify patterns of behaviour and ensure that the client’s case is presented clearly and proportionately

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
