From Arrest to Trial - Neurodiversity in the Criminal Justice System
Introduction
Not all vulnerabilities in the Criminal Justice System are immediately visible. While we often recognize when a client is clearly mentally unwell, many challenges are less obvious and these can have a significant impact on criminal proceedings.
What about those whose difficulties may not be so obvious? What does neurodiversity mean and how does it effect a person facing criminal proceedings, maybe for the first time? Understanding and supporting neurodivergent clients is becoming an essential part of ensuring fairness in the justice system.
This webinar will explore what neurodiversity means in practice, how you can identify and then support clients who are neurodivergent at all stages of criminal proceedings and what role you can play to ensure that the Criminal Justice System is fair to those who are neurodivergent.
