Introduction

In situations where an employee’s absences have become an issue, employers have traditionally relied heavily upon the provision of medical evidence to guide them in terms of the action that can be taken.

However, as the medical profession moves more of its services online and practitioners other than GPs can supply Fit Notes, there is a growing concern amongst many employers that it has become too easy for employees to ‘get signed off’ work.

This new virtual classroom seminar will encourage employers to set aside these concerns and instead focus on creating a culture of attendance.

Communication is key.

Aimed at HR and people managers, this session will show you how to manage attendance confidently and proactively without the use of cumbersome processes or unnecessary form filling.

Expert speaker Helen Cleare will also demonstrate how, by using the right phrasing, you can have non-confrontational discussions with your employees which in turn will lead to positive changes to patterns of attendance.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • How the Fit Note Scheme works and why GPs are being used less often to assess employees’ fitness for work
  • The use of Occupational Health to give more useful information to an employer
  • Identify the reasons for employee absence on an individual and company wide basis
  • Building a supportive culture for maximum employee attendance
  • Looking at approaches to tackle absence
  • Being a reasonable employer and focussing on the individual rather than the process
  • Reducing paperwork and increasing positive outcomes

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
