Introduction

Around 70,000 drivers have their driving licences medically revoked by the DVLA each year. With more and more drivers relying on their driving licence as a lifeline, either for working as a professional driver, commuting, or as an elderly/vulnerable person, obtaining early comprehensive advice is vital to drivers who have been revoked.

Providing regulatory advice to revoked drivers is a growing area of practice, and one which can be rewarding and lucrative with sufficient knowledge and expertise for litigators and criminal practitioners.

This virtual classroom session is designed to provide you with an introduction and understanding of the relevant law and procedure governing DVLA medical revocations and provide you with practical tips and examples on how to advise your clients in respect of their rights to make representations to the DVLA, and appeal revocation decisions through the Magistrates’ Court and beyond.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • The Application of Section 92 of the Road Traffic Act 1988
  • The Application of The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1999, and the associated DVLA Medical Guidance
  • Understanding common DVLA Medical Revocation Grounds, and how to apply the law and guidance to such revocation scenarios
  • Options available to advise medically revoked clients
  • Regulatory Appeals against DVLA decisions within the Magistrates’ Court
  • Practical scenarios and examples of DVLA Medical Revocation cases.

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
