Rebecca Atkinson

Rebecca Atkinson is General Counsel at Howard Kennedy LLP and is their COLP, MLRO, MLCO and DPO until end of April 2024, when she leaves to set up her own legal practice advising on all things risk and compliance. Rebecca leads the firm's internal risk and compliance function and sets the risk and compliance vision and strategy. Rebecca was called to the English Bar, is a Solicitor of England and Wales, a New York Attorney and a risk and compliance professional with over a decade of experience. Rebecca has had 3 books published by the Law Society -Assessing and Addressing Risk and Compliance in Your Law Firm (2020), Financial Crime A Compliance Manual (2021) and Financial Crime A Compliance Manual and Risk, and Compliance Questions and Answers (2022). Rebecca also produces written content for compliance publications, is the editor of the AML chapter of Cordery on Legal Services and has authored multiple Practice Notes for Practical Law Company. She sits on the Board for the Law Society Legal Compliance Bulletin, Practical Law Company Compliance and Management Consultation Board and is a Member of the Law Society Regulatory Processes Committee.
