Introduction

In December 2023 the UK’s National Economic Crime Centre published a red alert for sanctions evasion in the context of the UK’s Russian sanctions regime, reinforcing that sanctions compliance is a pressing topic.

Hundreds have been designated since 2022 as a result of the government’s response to the Russian war in Ukraine but practitioners should take note that in recent months sanctions have also expanded in relation to other jurisdictions.

The UK courts are also beginning to see the first challenges to sanctions designations and the guidance from the courts on the application of the sanctions provisions is illuminating.

Firms, regardless of sector, must have a solid understanding of the sanctions framework and must keep up to date with the latest cases, alerts, and guidance. It is no secret that professional bodies are taking steps to ensure that those they regulate are staying on the right side of sanctions laws.

Presented by expert speaker Anita Clifford, this webinar rounds up the latest developments in the sanctions space.
