Introduction

Whether as part of the defence case or seeking simply to assert rights in assets, third parties now frequently feature in or appear as standalone parties in confiscation and forfeiture proceedings.

The exponential increase in financial applications and proceedings by public authorities under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 has meant that third parties are also increasingly involved in litigation.

Their involvement introduces complex legal, procedural, and practical challenges that cannot be ignored. This virtual classroom seminar aims to equip those navigating this difficult area with the fundamental background and practical tools to assist third parties and to deal with the issues that inevitably arise in cases where they feature.
