The Role, Work & Appointment of the Qualified Legal Representative (QLR) in Family Proceedings
Speaker
Introduction
Following the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, Qualified Legal Representatives (QLR) are appointed by the court in proceedings involving domestic abuse, children, and financial applications. The appointment of a QLR is increasingly important at court hearings and is in place to protect the vulnerable witness and to ensure unrepresented parties are fairly heard.
It is vital that family law practitioners are familiar with the role of the QLR and the reasons for their appointment.
