Introduction

When an accountant is engaged by a solicitor, the assignment will often include the preparation of a Reporting Accountant’s Report under the Solicitors Accounts Regulations 2023.

This requires obtaining details of all practice-related bank accounts, including client, office, trust and insolvency accounts and carrying out procedures in accordance with Regulation 28(2) and (3).

Key audit procedures include testing client ledger postings around the accounting date, performing checks at selected balancing dates where irregularities may arise and verifying that transfers from client to office account are properly supported by bills of costs and appropriate client authority.

Presented by Elaine Jackson of Process Accountants, this webinar will consider the key requirements of the Regulations and provides practical guidance on the audit of solicitors’ client accounts and completion of the Reporting Accountant’s Report.

This webinar is aimed at accountants. It will also be of interest to auditors and solicitors involved in reporting and compliance engagements.
