Piercing the Corporate Veil in Construction: Building Liability & Remediation Orders
Speaker
Introduction
Standard company law principles are being set aside in the name of building safety. Building Liability Orders (BLOs) and Remediation Contribution Orders (RCOs) now allow the courts to reach across corporate groups to find the ‘deep pockets’ required for repairs.
This webinar provides a critical update on the ‘just and equitable’ test, which has been rigorously tested in the tribunals over the last 12 months. This session will examine how the 2026 Upper Tribunal decisions have expanded the definition of ‘associated companies’, making it nearly impossible for parent companies to distance themselves from the liabilities of their SPVs.
