Introduction

As family practitioners we all know the need to ensure pensions are properly taken into account as part of the financial settlement between the parties. We all understand that there are different types of pension and that one cash equivalent (CE) is not necessarily easily comparable to another.

The Armed Forces Pension schemes are valuable assets and if either your client or their spouse has served in any of the armed services, they are likely to have some benefit under one of the armed forces pension schemes (AFPS).

Whether you act for the member of the scheme or their spouse, having a greater knowledge of the AFPS and how they work will mean that you can provide sound advice and ensure a fair outcome for your client.

This virtual classroom seminar will explain the different schemes and some of the practical matters of which you need to be aware when dealing with this type of pension.

By attending this live session, you will gain the information you need about these pensions and what to consider. It will also enable you to ask the right questions of the actuary and the relevant points to make in negotiations and in proceedings.
