Kinship leave is leave for those who unexpectedly find themselves looking after a child of a relative and is usually when a child can no longer live with their parents as determined by a court.

There is no statutory provision relating to this type of childcare related support, so employers are not obliged to give any leave (paid or unpaid) to an employee who suddenly finds themself as a kinship carer.

There are no plans for the government to tackle this problem, so what could / should an employer do in these circumstances?

This webinar will look at the options available to employers and will explain why offering this support is a win/win for both employers and their staff.

What You Will Learn

This webinar will cover the following:

  • Brief background to kinship caring in the UK and why those affected have been overlooked
  • Current sources of help and information
  • A brief overview of ‘family friendly’ policies which have a statutory footing in the UK and how kinship leave links to these
  • Why introducing a kinship leave policy is good for business
  • Options for employers in developing an appropriate policy
  • Support available to employees

This pre-recorded webinar will be available to view from Friday 26th July 2024
