Introduction

The Building Safety Act 2022 and secondary legislation creates a new regulatory regime for high-rise residential buildings in England ('Higher-Risk Buildings'), covering all stages of their design, construction, major refurbishment, and occupation.

Most of the new regulatory regime is now in force, placing new obligations on clients, landlords, managing agents, contractors and professional teams working on Higher-Risk Buildings and onerous penalties for failure to comply with the new rules.

This virtual classroom seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of the regime for new Higher-Risk Buildings, from their initial design and construction through to their occupation stage. You will also explore the new requirements to register existing Higher-Risk Buildings and ongoing obligations in respect of their maintenance and safety checking together with the new obligations created by the building safety legislation, and how clients and landlords should restructure their procurement, construction, and tenancy processes to comply with the new obligations.
