EU Geographical Indications & Quality Schemes - Recent Developments & Green Claims
Speaker
Introduction
On 1 December 2025, a new quality scheme came into effect in the European Union, protecting the names of craft and industrial products whose quality, reputation, or other characteristics are attributable to their geographical origin.
Complementing the protection already in place for agricultural products, wines and spirits, Geographical Indications for craft and industrial products close a gap that previously existed for these products.
This webinar will explore the different quality schemes in the EU as well as collective and certification marks.
It will also briefly look at the possible implications placed on certification marks by new regulations as regards empowering consumers for the green transition and green claims in the EU.
