Introduction

Digital identity verification can make client onboarding faster and more secure, but law firms must understand what the technology checks, its limitations and when further enquiries remain necessary.

This new virtual classroom seminar will examine biometric, NFC-chip and cryptographic verification in the context of law-firm onboarding. It will clarify the relationship between digital identity, AML obligations and the HM Land Registry Safe Harbour standard.

This session will also consider failed or inconclusive checks, digital exclusion and the controls firms need when using third-party identity providers.

It is suitable for COLPs, MLROs, partners, practice managers, conveyancers, compliance teams and those responsible for client inception.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • How digital identity-verification technology works
  • Biometric, liveness, NFC-chip and cryptographic checks

  • The distinction between Safe Harbour and AML compliance
  • Combining digital verification with manual and enhanced checks
