Introduction

Data protection is a crucial part of any organisation’s compliance framework. Modern charities use personal data in an infinite number of ways, but compliance with data protection laws often slips down the priority list when balancing the various regulatory obligations to which charities are subject.

The recent penalty imposed on Mermaids by the ICO has further emphasised the risk for charities of getting data protection compliance wrong.

This virtual classroom seminar will focus on some of the key aspects of data protection compliance charities come across, including data sharing, management of data protection breaches (and their interaction with Charity Commission Serious Incident Reports) and marketing regulations to which a charity must adhere.

The live session will also give some practical guidance as to how to respond to data subject access requests and look ahead to what we might expect from the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill.
