Introduction

IR35 has been a hotly debated area of UK taxation since it was introduced in 2000. For some it is a sensible anti-avoidance measure, for others it is overly complex legislation that stifles entrepreneurship.

It is very hard to find agreement on IR35. Even household names such as Gary Lineker, Adrian Chiles and Kaye Adams have long running IR35 disputes with HMRC with unresolved cases that are working their way through the courts.
