Introduction
This webinar will look at the approach of the county court to damages for unlawful eviction and harassment claims and the different approach in the First-tier Tribunal to rent repayment orders.
The approach of the First-tier Tribunal to rent repayment orders under Housing and Planning Act 2016 is a developing area of law, which has seen several recent Upper Tribunal decisions that practitioners need to be aware of, as well as a recent Supreme Court decision.
It is aimed at solicitors acting for tenants in order to understand how to prove and quantify damages claims for unlawful eviction and harassment, and at solicitors acting for landlords to understand how to respond to such claims.
It is also aimed at local housing authority officers who may be assisting with such claims.
What You Will Learn
