Introduction

The role of legal cashiers and legal bookkeepers has evolved over the last 20 years, from the introductions of the 2011 Rules and 2019 Rules. This has resulted in the experience required for the role to vastly increase.

Led by expert speaker Luke Dickinson, this interactive seminar will explore the 2019 SRA Accounts Rules and the relevant bookkeeping skills.

He will also examine relevant guidance and publications from the SRA and Law Society and will share his experiences from his years conducting and overseeing SRA Accounts Rules audits.

What You Will Learn

This course will cover the following:

  • The SRA Standards and Regulations 2019
  • What makes accounting in law firms so different
  • Double entry bookkeeping principles
  • The SRA Accounts Rules 2019 in more detail with comparisons to the changes from the SRA Accounts Rules 2011
  • Guidance issued by the SRA including prescribed circumstances (residual balances)
  • What the SRA says about client money
