Introduction

The role of the COFA has never been more important, or their duties more demanding.

Mitigating accounts rule breaches, keeping client money safe and dealing with residual balances, are just some of the challenges a COFA may encounter when going about their job on a day-to-day basis.

Ideal for experienced and new COFAs alike, this in-person course will provide you with an in-depth look at the SRA Accounts Rules as they relate to your role as the Compliance Officer for Finance & Administration. You will receive practical advice relating to the high-risk areas that the SRA are concerned about and guidance on best practice in relation to handling client money.

Led by reporting accountant Ian Johnson and SRA Accounts Rules specialist Luke Dickinson, this session will include roundtable discussions, practical case studies and the opportunity to have your questions answered by the experts.

What You Will Learn

This course will cover the following:

  • An overview of the SRA Accounts Rules and the high-risk areas
  • How to perform an effective review of the formal bank reconciliation, including key risk areas and how serious issues can sometimes be overlooked
  • How to mitigate against the risk of providing prohibited banking facilities
  • Dealing with residual balances
  • Other key controls and areas of delegation
