AR & Woodlands Relief - Latest Changes Explored
Introduction
Agricultural Relief (‘AR’) has been extended to include ‘farming for the environment’ from April 2025.
AR is to be reduced to 50% from April 2026.
The 50% reduction is subject to the £1 million allowance at 100%.
Also, with Business Relief (‘BR’) reduced to 50%, the focus on Woodlands Relief as an inheritance protection has become more heightened.
APR and Woodlands Relief will be restricted to the UK.
The working party reviewing farming for the environment have still to produce their report.
All of these strands must be pulled together for farm succession planning.
