Making Tax Digital for VAT - A Bitesized Guide
Introduction
HMRC introduced Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTD) in April 2019, as part of its plan to bring UK tax into the digital age. MTD will now be extended to almost all VAT registered businesses from April 2022.
MTD requires businesses to keep digital VAT records and use software to submit VAT returns to HMRC. It is intended to reduce the ‘tax gap’ attributable to taxpayer VAT errors, by encouraging better VAT record keeping and eliminating manual processes.
This webinar is for those new to MTD and for those already using MTD, who are looking to refresh their knowledge.
What You Will Learn
This short webinar will cover the practical implications of MTD for VAT, including:
- Scope of MTD and exemptions
- Using software to submit VAT returns
- Keeping digital VAT records
- The concept of ‘digital links’ and what this means in practice
- Adjustments, special schemes and other issues
- MTD for advisors and agents
This webinar was recorded on 2nd February 2022
