Solicitor and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner. Stephen has specialised in credit, debt, restructuring and insolvency work since 1987, and has extensive experience in dealing with the full range of these procedures. Prior to setting up his own consultancy, he was a Business Recovery and Insolvency partner at a major law firm heading up a team of over 50 legal professionals undertaking national debt and insolvency contracts in both the private and public sectors. Stephen was appointed Chairman of the Board of The Insolvency Service in January 2017 and is also the Chairman of the Joint Insolvency Examination Board (JIEB); one of the Chairmen of the Methodist Church Disciplinary Process and formerly the Deputy Independent Examiner for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. His major book 'Enforcement of a Judgment' was published by Sweet and Maxwell in January 2016, and he has in the last twelve months contributed to two leading educational publications in the areas of business and commercial property law for students and legal professionals, and also been involved in two leading practical insolvency texts for practitioners in both the corporate and personal insolvency arenas. Stephen's latest book is 'The Corporate Insolvency & Governance Act 2020 - A Practical Guide' published in August 2020.
