Introduction

In this e-Learning module you will look at two specific areas of health and safety - manual handling and display screen equipment.

Both areas are underpinned by the need to carry out a risk assessment. You will consider what assessments should be carried out, and then look at the specific duties on the employer.

What You Will Learn

With interactive learning activities, knowledge checks and key reminder messages, the programme covers the following:

  • The requirements to carry out a risk assessment
  • The fundamental elements of a risk assessment
  • Manual handling
    • What it is
    • Assessing the risks, and removing them
    • Training for employees
  • Display Screen Equipment
    • The definition of a user
    • Requirements relating to workstations
    • Requirements relating to work routines and breaks
    • Requirements relating to eye tests and glasses
    • Training for employees

You can take each section at your own pace, picking up where you left off and are able to see your progress throughout.

The programme concludes with an assessment. Your score will be recorded and 'super-user' reporting functionality for the organisation as a whole is available in the MBL learning platform.
