This live broadcast session will provide a comprehensive introduction to rural arbitrations.

It will cover the procedures involved, the relevant law, the duties and powers of the arbitrator and the duties and obligations of the parties.

The session will also cover some helpful advice on how to deal with interlocutory matters leading up to the hearing, how to prepare for the hearing and what to do after an award is made.

  • The nature of arbitration and how it differs from other forms of dispute resolution
  • The application for and appointment of the arbitrator including the procedures and process and use of simplified scheme

  • Preparing for and attending the hearing
  • Acting as advocate, expert evidence, hearing protocols and procedures
