Introduction

This new virtual classroom seminar will focus on the key legal issues to be considered as part of the drafting of wills for farming clients.

The assets held by farming clients often fall within complex ownership structures where individual ownership may be intertwined with farming partnerships or limited companies.

You will also have to consider interests in agricultural tenancies, how these are held, and how you can provide for transfer of such interests as part of the will drafting.

The session is aimed at private client lawyers, providing an overview, and understanding of the queries and issues which arise from drafting wills for farming clients, the particular assets involved, provision for non-farming family members and potential legal rights claims and the main provisions relating to transfer or assignation of interests in agricultural tenancies.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • Investigation into ownership structure of farming assets - consideration of relevant documentation
  • Drafting of specific legacies relation to farming assets and tenancy interests
  • Interests in agricultural tenancies on death - executors’ powers and discretion - back letters
  • Legal rights claims and provision for non-farming family members
  • Interaction with partnership agreements

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
