Introduction

The menopause, and the impact it can have on people’s professional lives, is an issue that is attracting greater focus. It is estimated that two million women aged over 50 have experienced difficulties at work due to menopause symptoms. The effects of the menopause vary significantly, but symptoms can include:

  • feeling tired and lacking energy
  • hot flushes
  • feeling anxious and experiencing panic attacks
  • struggling to concentrate or focus
  • headaches including migraines

Three out of five participants in a recent CIPD study said that menopause was having a negative impact on them at work. Nearly a third of women surveyed (30%) said they had taken sick leave because of their symptoms. Of those who were affected negatively at work, more than half (58%) said they experienced more stress and nearly two-thirds (65%) said they were less able to concentrate.

Delivered by employment expert Paul Jennings, this virtual classroom seminar will provide HR professionals with an essential guide to this developing area of the law.
