Introduction

The way that personal tax applies to professional sports people is incredibly nuanced. We are currently in a time where agents, sports lawyers and sports professionals themselves are acutely aware of the implications of entering into improper tax schemes, or even just failing to be compliant. There is a tangible shift in how professionals who support athletes approach their taxes. The industry is more alive now to improper tax investments and the devastating impact that this can and does have on their clients.

Between September 2021 to December 2021, HMRC issued on average 1,062 investigations per day. Elite athletes are now wising up to the consequences of getting things wrong from a tax perspective. They expect their advisers to be flagging up any tax issues so that they know when to seek specific tax advice.

This virtual classroom seminar will enable you to fully understand the potential tax traps of advising elite athletes. It will also enable you to know how to support your clients and when and how to instruct a tax expert to advise.
