SRA Competency B
'Excellent presentation, engaging and interesting '

This course considers commercial lasting powers of attorney and is aimed at solicitors and accountants who advise SMEs and small business owners.

If your client becomes incapacitated through illness or accident and there is no LPA in place what happens to the bank account or day to day affairs of the business? Who can enter into contracts? What happens if wages cannot be paid? Is there a risk that the business might fold?

The law changed last year meaning commercial LPAs are now the 'new kid on the block'.

What You Will Learn

This course will cover the following:

  • Current legislative changes regarding directors and how they apply in practice
  • How to draft a commercial LPA
  • Where to check and amend a company's structure
  • How personal & commercial LPAs may clash
