Introduction

This course will take delegates through a number of scenarios which are common in agricultural practice and problem-solve the issues that are raised within them.

It will look at how to approach agricultural disputes and in particular how to avoid certain issues from developing into disputes.

The course is designed to be interactive and will involve active participation by attendees. It aims to better equip you to deal with the difficult questions and problems that cross your desk on a daily basis and there will be an opportunity to talk about real life scenarios that are seen in agricultural practice.

    • The new legislation
    • Procedural issues and how to deal with specific issues that arise
  • Succession planning:
    • Consideration of how to plan ahead for various scenarios and possibilities and how best to protect the position of various members of the family, both farming and non-farming
  • Understanding farm accounts from a legal point of view:
    • Various farm accounts and how to interpret the contents of them
    • What that may mean in various scenarios
    • What to look out for when dealing with various legal issues for clients
  • Proprietary estoppel:
    • How to protect against claims for proprietary estoppel
    • How to identify proprietary estoppel cases
    • How to prepare effectively for proceedings and mediation in such cases
