Introduction

This new virtual classroom seminar will look at the legalities of advising clients who have disabled beneficiaries and introduces practitioners to an area of specialism which will provide clients with various options to protect their assets and their beneficiaries from vulnerabilities.

Essential revision for those practitioners already advising in this area but pitched at a level to allow those with little knowledge to become involved in this area of trust law, the session will build on your already basic knowledge of trusts and taxation.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • The legal definition of a disabled beneficiary
  • Definition of a disabled persons trust
  • How to make adequate provision for a disabled beneficiary - what concerns might the client have?
  • How to shelter assets from means testing
  • Why have a trust?
  • Types of trust available
  • Other options to a disabled persons trust
  • The tax advantages and treatment of disabled persons trusts
  • Vulnerable person election
  • Deadline for making a vulnerable person election

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
