Introduction

Part 25 applications are a regular feature in care proceedings. However, with the recent emphasis on minimising delay in cases for children after the pandemic, as well as family advocates often being reminded to make Part 25 applications only when necessary, many practitioners are now concerned that any application for a Part 25 assessment is not going to succeed at all.

This virtual classroom seminar will help you understand the current rules, guidance and caselaw underpinning expert applications, how a written and oral application should be made and how to select an expert.

Real examples will be provided together with practical tips to equip you in knowing how to deal with this area.

There will be a focus on Part 25 Family Procedure Rules 2010 and the necessity test. Examples will be provided to give you the opportunity to analyse and learn interactively.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • A recap on the law governing Part 25 applications, including Part 25 Family Procedure Rules 2010, Children and Families Act 2014 and the most recent case law and guidance on this topic
  • A reminder of the necessity test and how to apply it
  • How to decide what expert to apply for and when to make the application
  • How to draft a compliant and persuasive Part 25 application, including examples
  • Tips on how to make an oral Part 25 application

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
