Senior Associate, Linklaters LLP (New York and London offices). Prior to qualifying as a tax solicitor at Linklaters, he spent severals years in managing the regional tax disputes portfolio of a Big4 accounting firm in the Caribbean. Currently, his contentious tax practice is a mix of tax litigation (taxpayer v tax authority), tax-related issues in the context of commercial litigation and arbitration, tax issues in the context of international investment law as well as tax-related corporate disputes. As it pertains to tax-related corporate disputes, Jivaan regularly advises clients in a range of sectors but, increasingly, private equity funds, on potential liabilities and claims arising in respect of tax indemnities and tax warranties post-acquisition. Drawing from his wide experience on contentious issues arising in SPAs, tax indemnities and other relevant contractual documentation, Jivaan works closely with the firm’s mainstream corporate teams on the drafting of such documents.
