LPAs & Wills for LGBTQ+ Clients - Key Considerations for Private Client Practitioners
Introduction
Preparing a will and LPAs are important for everyone regardless of sexuality and gender.
This new virtual classroom seminar will explore the issues that may need to be taken into consideration when advising LGBTQ+ clients from the correct use of pronouns, assumptions about relationships, alternative relationship structures and the impact of gender recognition changes for your clients and their beneficiaries/attorneys on documents prepared before and after the change.
The session is suitable for private client practitioners who wish to understand the issues potentially affecting their LGBTQ+ clients and to develop their soft skills in taking instructions from them in a compassionate and respectful way.
What You Will Learn
This live and interactive session will cover the following:
- The importance of asking about pronouns and chosen titles

- The impact of family homophobia and estrangement on estate planning
- Alternative relationship structures, including non-monogamous relationships
- Potential claims arising under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
