Introduction

This webinar will provide a review of the changes to the Financial Procedure Rules which take effect on 29 April 2024. These changes will, for the first time, give the court power to adjourn family law proceedings for non-court dispute resolution, with potential cost consequences for non-engagement.

Consideration will also be given to recent caselaw, the advantages and disadvantages of different types of NCDR, and recent and upcoming developments in the area of NCDR.

What You Will Learn

This webinar will cover the following:

  • Review and summary of the changes to the FPR
  • Consideration will be given to the case of Churchill v Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and Others [2023] and whether we are now in step with other jurisdictions
  • The pros and cons of different types of non-court dispute resolution (e.g. arbitration, mediation, ENEs) and the impact this may have on case management
  • Consideration of recent and upcoming developments in the area of NCDR

This pre-recorded webinar will be streamed at 12:30pm on Thursday 13th June 2024 and will remain available to view by delegates who have registered by then for 90 days.
