Introduction

This new full day course will explore the intellectual property rights which apply to the key aspects of fashion branding and design.

The course will examine the more recent cases concerning aspects of colour, shape, patterns, and position in the world of fashion to answer the question ‘how are certain aspects of fashion branding and design protected under IP law?’

It will also delve into issues applicable to the world of fashion such as the use and protection of designer names, parody fashion brands and fashion heritage brands.

Cases referenced will include those covering well-known names in fashion such as Elizabeth Emanuel, Karen Millen, Christian Louboutin, Prada, Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton.
