Akber Datoo

Akber is a solicitor, computer scientist and academic with more than 25 years’ experience across financial services, technology, data and regulation. As Founder and CEO of D2 Legal Technology (D2LT), he brings together first-hand experience of building financial-market systems, advising on complex legal and regulatory matters, and leading technology-enabled transformation. His work connects the opportunities presented by innovation with the practical demands of governance, accountability and implementation. Akber advises banks, asset managers, trade associations, law firms and in-house legal teams on AI adoption, legal data strategy, technology procurement, digital transformation and regulatory implementation. His experience extends beyond strategy to the delivery of complex change and remediation programmes, including work involving regulatory capital, client assets, data lineage, management information and evidence of effective controls. He is Co-Chair of the Law Society of England and Wales’ Technology and Law Committee and its Council member for Central London. Akber is the author of Legal Data for Banking and co-editor of The LegalTech Book.
