Sustainability Clauses in Construction Contracts
Speaker
Introduction
The built environment is directly responsible for 25% of the UK's total greenhouse gas emissions (including emissions from both the operation of buildings and their construction, maintenance, and demolition). It is therefore unsurprising that there is a great deal of interest in how construction contracts can be used to help achieve sustainability objectives. One aspect of this, which this Learn Live session will explore, is the inclusion of sustainability clauses in construction contracts.
What You Will Learn
This live and interactive course will cover the following:
- The rationale for including sustainability clauses in construction contracts
- The functions of sustainability drafting (including consideration of template clauses, such as those produced by the Chancery Lane Project and providers of standard form contracts)
- Potential legal and contractual issues created by sustainability drafting
- Possible good practice frameworks for the drafting of sustainability clauses
- A practical exercise revolving around the drafting and negotiation of a sustainability clause
